DIY Auto Repair- Break Light Switch Repair

OMG its Monday.... How many of you dragged your self out of the bed this morning?  Today I wanted to talk a little about saving money on easy car repairs that you can do yourself... Yep DIY!

My car is a 2007 Mercury Milan and I love it to pieces. I have had her for three years and do to all the love i put into her she gets me to all me destinations trouble free. Recently I was pulled over by Cedar Hill finest after a slow speed car chase thru Uptown Village. When I finally stopped and he finally stopped following me he let me know that I had no break lights.

As you probably already know from pervious post I have been on a tight budget since back to school so this is a repair I could not get fixed from the dealer.

But to get to the topic of this post I fixed the problem myself for $25.00

If you have your tail lights go out please look under your break pedal and check the Break Light Switch. I have attached a photo from Allpar on how to do this repair.

What I did...

1. Google the problem.( for example... How to Change a Break Light Switch)

2. Checked for the part. I find some companies online that was selling it for $15 dollars but I wanted to get it local so i paid a little more.

3. Visit Allpar for reference. This vehicle is a little bit older but it looks the same once you look under the steering column.

4. Fix your car.... and the part must be turned clockwise to remove. I was pulling on it for a minutes before I got it. I found the Allpar website actually after the repairs.

This picture is on a mini Van but its the same for a passenger car.
