Apple Green Lemonade Recipe | Juicing on a Budget

Juicing on a Budgeis a new series which will run every Tuesday or maybe every Wednesday if you happen to be in Australia. It’s a quick start guide for new juicers and a refresher course for juicers who want to stay motivated and inspired. So if you’re a new juicer, or if your juicing has plateaued and needs renewing, then dust off your juicer and subscribe now by email or RSS feed so you don’t miss out.

A popular recipe that I have tired is Apple Green Lemonade.... this happens to be one of my favorite drinks so far. Now you can can change this up however you choose just leave the Lemon as one of your main ingredients. If the apples does not make it sweet enough for your liking I suggest using Stevia or honey.

  1.  an inch of ginger- use this as the first ingredient.
  2. A juicy vegetable – such as a cucumber or celery.
  3. A few dark leafy green leaves – such as kale, baby spinach, collard greens or char.
  4. A piece of fruit for a sweetener  – such as a pineapple, a pear, an orange... I use apples..
  5. one lemon
Enjoy!!!!

Dallas Farmers Market | Juicing on a Budget

Juicing on a Budgeis a new series which will run every Tuesday or maybe every Wednesday if you happen to be in Australia. It’s a quick start guide for new juicers and a refresher course for juicers who want to stay motivated and inspired. So if you’re a new juicer, or if your juicing has plateaued and needs renewing, then dust off your juicer and subscribe now by email or RSS feed so you don’t miss out.

 Dallas Farmers Market
1010 South Pearl Expressway
Dallas, TX 75201

I posted about setting a budget and finding where you can get the best deals on produce and the Dallas Farmers Market is one of the best places to start. All the produce is provided by local venders so you if you want to know where your tomatoes came from this is the place to go because you can just ask.

The Dallas Farmers Market is open 362 days a year and is closed on New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The Dallas Farmers Market is open for retail sales from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

Smart shoppers know how to get the most out of their visit to the DFM. Here are some useful tips:
  • For the best selection, come to the Dallas Farmers Market early; for the best deals, come late in the day. Farmers are at the Market on Saturday’s; some are also there Fridays and Sundays.
  • Bring your own bag, preferably a sturdy, cloth, reusable bag, which will help keep ripe produce from getting bruised.
  • Examine all the vegetables or fruit in a basket to make sure you're getting what you want.
  • Plan to do a lot of shopping? Bring your own cart to carry everything.
  • Ask about bargains. Sellers often have bruised or overripe vegetables and fruit that they will discount and that are perfect for pies, cobblers, sauces or jams.
  • Bring cash; particularly single dollar bills because many vendors have limited change.
  • When in doubt, ask if the produce is locally-grown or where it is from.
  • If the Market is one of several stops you'll be making in a day, bring a cooler for your purchases to keep them fresh.

Setting a budget | Juicing on a Budget

Knowledge is Power!~ Sir Francis Bacon
Juicing is Power!~ Latrice

To start off the Jucing on a Budget series I wanted to first point out some important things that you may not know about juicing. I find that the more knowledge you have in juicing the better you will be at becoming a  successful juicer.

1. Juicing CAN be expensive if you don't be smart!

So I was going to jump strait into juicing when my wonderful juicer hit the door step. I jumped on line started googling juicing recipes and then I was hit with a YouTube video of a woman that said she spends $50+ a week to juice. At that moment I thought OMG I don't think this will be for me.

So today I want all of you to think, investigate and then buy!

Think what you can afford, set a budget today of what you will spend for fruit and veggies. Investigate what is in season and then search for the sales. If you shop for whats in season you will find it cheaper. For example Strawberries are in season from March thur May and this will be when you can find them on sale. The best fruit for Fall is Pineapples. Lastly go buy....If you do this I promise you wont break the bank and quit juicing before you can reap the benefits.

So your task for today is to find where you can find your produce at a great price.

Check out a list of fruits and vegetables in season for Fall

Juicing on a Budget

So as of today I am a proud owner of a juicer..... For almost one year now I have been wanting one and thanks to Best Buy and their Deal of the Day promotion I was able to get one that was originally $100 for only $50 dollars.

Starting September 1, 2012 there will be a new weekly segment devoted on juicing on a budget.

Each week we will provide you with:

1. The Basics- Juicing 101
2. Recipes
3. Health Benefits
4. Local deals- Where to catch the best deals in the DFW

Here at Crazy Texas Savings (CTS) we don't you want to pass up being health because its too expensive. It's sad that its cheaper to be unhealthy than its is to be health. Every restaurant these days have a dollar menu and I won't lie I visit them all the time because it cheaper than the salads available. But this needs to change because I don't think anyone wants to die because of an unhealthy lifestyle.

So if you are reading this post  I ask you please subscribe to CTS so you can get educated on how juicing can better your life. If you don't read any other post we write read this one because it may just save your life.

Bye for now,
